Service
Unlike conventional packing, style 5000 becomes denser as gland follower adjustments are made. This superior material allows you to add new rings and readjust when the follower bottoms out in the stuffing box – eliminating the need for extractions. The packing also provides excellent service without scoring.
In most cases anti-extrusion rings are not necessary for pumps operating under 150 psi or valves less than 1000 psi. Palmetto 1585 anti-extrusion rings are recommended for higher pressure applications or clearance gaps equal to or exceeding 0.010.
Easy Installation
Unlike flexible graphite ribbon, style 5000 handles cuts
and installs easily. It won’t tear or unravel from a spool-like
ribbon.
